Spring 2018 Dean's List Announced
A total of 1,621 students have been named to the Dean's List at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) for the Spring 2018 semester of the 2017-2018 academic year, according to Joanne Bruno, J.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs. Students eligible for the Dean's List are those who have attained a 3.50 quality point average or better and are enrolled full-time. The letter grade "B" earns 3 quality points per credit, and the grade "A" earns 4 quality points per credit.

University of Scranton Undergraduate Commencement
The University of Scranton conferred more than 890 bachelor's and associate's degrees at its undergraduate commencement on May 27 at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre. Very Reverend Timothy P. Kesicki, S.J., president of the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the United States, read the remarks of the principal speaker Most Reverend George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop of the Diocese of Youngstown, who was unable to attend the ceremony in person because he is undergoing treatment for a form of acute leukemia. Both Father Kesicki and Bishop Murry, in absentia, received honorary degrees from the University. Honorary degrees were also presented to Sister Ann Walsh, I.H.M., former CEO and current assistant director of Friends of the Poor; William Whitaker, founding president of the Washington Jesuit Academy, Washington. D.C.; and Cecelia Lynett Haggerty, Times-Shamrock Communications and former University trustee.

USciences Inducts Newest Members into Rho Chi, the Academic Honor Society in Pharmacy
USciences inducted its newest members into the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy Alpha Tau Chapter of Rho Chi, the Academic Honor Society in Pharmacy. Rho Chi recognizes and encourages academic excellence. To be nominated for membership in Rho Chi, a student must rank among the top 20 percent of his or her class and have completed at least the fall semester of their fourth year. The society also accepts membership for graduate students, faculty, alumni, as well as an honorary membership.

CCU's Honors Program graduates its largest class in program history
Eighty-one Coastal Carolina University students are graduating from the institution's Honors Program. Each graduate has completed a rigorous curriculum composed of at least 24 hours of honors work, including a final honors thesis/project achieving a cumulating grade point average of at least 3.50. The cumulative GPA of the spring graduating class is 3.79. Students presented their work in public forums more than 75 times at conferences or research competitions and have earned numerous awards.

More than 45 CCU students inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma
More than 45 Coastal Carolina University students were inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the international business honor society, on April 4, 2018. Beta Gamma Sigma encourages and honors academic achievement in the study of business, and cultivates and celebrates leadership and professional excellence. In order for a business program to have a BGS chapter, it must be accredited by AACSB International, and undergraduates must be within the top 10 percent of their business program in order to be inducted into the society.

Mathematics Honor Society Induction
University of Scranton students inducted into Pi Mu Epsilon, the national honor society for mathematics majors. To be considered for induction, students must be in their junior or senior year, have an overall grade point average of 3.33 and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher in mathematics. Eligible biomathematics majors can be nominated with an unsolicited recommendation from full-time mathematics faculty. The University's chapter of the honor society was established in 1973.

Cedar Crest College 2017-18 Annual Day of Service
Cedar Crest College believes that being civically engaged in one's community is a critical step in one's life journey. Each year during New Student Orientation, students are provided an opportunity to begin their civic journey by volunteering during our annual Day of Service. This opportunity allows students to serve others while demonstrating learning, connection, and caring involvement in the surrounding community. The Class of 2021 teamed up with faculty and staff members, Interim President Elizabeth Meade, and the Friends of the Allentown Parks for the college's Day of Service on Saturday, August 26, 2017. The group cleaned up the grounds between Fountain Park and Valania Park in Allentown. Later in the day the group walked to Zion's Reformed United Church of Christ at 620 Hamilton Street, where Cedar Crest College held its first classes on September 5, 1867, for a photo.
